Catapulting EMV Open Payments into the Future of Fare Payment
Independent Evaluator Project Study of Masabi JustRide Platform – Las Vegas RTC (Las Vegas, NV)
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTCSNV) commissioned CCG to conduct an Independent Evaluator Study on its recently installed Masabi EMV certified electronic validators on its fleet of fixed route buses. Funded through the Federal Transit Administration, the grant required the selection and onboarding of an independent third-party evaluator to provide information on the project’s implementation and outcomes.
As part of this study, CCG led a field assessment of the Just Ride Validator and Hub back office to provide RTCSNV with a strategy to evaluate the readiness of accepting EMV Open Payments for fare payment. As part of testing, the CCG team generated and validated transactions, conducted a hardware assessment, and verified transaction settlement, refunds, and debt recovery scenarios. The results from the field assessment and CCG’s thorough review of the Masabi solution will inform the Independent Evaluator Report drafted by CCG.
